The short answer is deal with people. The long answer looks something like this…. HR has a ton of different functions. Depending on the company size, organizational structure, current experience level of employees, or personal preference of the head of HR, the structure of HR will look different in every company. Chances are if you work for a small company, you will have a single HR manager or generalist who handles all the payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruiting and legal compliance. If your company is a multinational enterprise you may have 5 HR directors each heading two functions of HR. These directors each could have 3 HR managers under them, for a total of 200 employees in the Human Resources department. The common sense rule of thumb is, if a company has more employees there will be a larger HR team to support them Reply

Marketing has a better scope. It always had a better scope and considering the growth of digital marketing and the number of job opportunities in the field, you can be sure that there will be scope in the future too. Just imagine and compare the number of Marketing and Sales persons with the number of H.R persons an ordinary company needs. You will get the picture. You should also consider the fact that many MBA students are hired for pure Sales roles than Marketing. So based on your wish to get into sales, your decision should be made. The nature of job differs from industry to industry. A H.R Manager in Manufacturing Industry will have a reduced salary, comfort, growth than a H.R Manager in Software Industry. There will be very high pressure in marketing whereas there will not be equal pressure for a H.R Manager. The Career Growth in Marketing will be very good and will be great if you perform well. Whereas the career growth in H.R will be low when compared to marketing. In salary terms also Marketing will be the winner. If you want a 9 to 5 office job without high work pressure, then H.R is the right choice for you.But if you want a Challenging and hard job with a lot of work pressure, then marketing is your cup of tea. But more than the scope, salary, growth, etc, there lies a main factor….Interest, Passion or whatever you may call it, is very important. Because if you have interest then scope, growth etc doesn't matter. So Choose your option wisely. Good luck… Reply
